Thompson Center Arms began in 1965 when K.W. Thompson was looking for a product to build and a gun designer, Warren Center was looking for someone to build his Contender pistol it was a perfect match. Currently, Thompson Center Arms produces a line of single shot pistols and rifles and a full line of muzzleloading rifles and black powder accessories.

The Thompson Center Arms G2 Contender pistol frame includes rubber grips and forend. The Thompson Center Arms G2 Contender Pistol frame is compatible with the old style contenders. Accepting all the old style barrels the Thompson Center Arms G2 Contender frame will also accept the corresponding forends except the Herrett. Because of the new grip angle the Thompson Center Arms G2 Contender frame will not accept the old-style grips as the angle in the grip has been changed.
